I totally agree that this is the worst idea BMW has had in a long time. Besides having to deal with what you went through there are several other negatives with having only run flats such as handling and ride. And I just don't like not having another choice when it comes to replacement tires. I checked with Tirerack and there is only one run flat tire available. BMW should have made the run flat tires an option, not as standard equipment. By not having a spare also limits your ability to switch to a winter tire since run flats are not available in a winter tire.
