Subject: Re: XM / Sirius and Assist on a convertible

I put both Sirius and Assist into my '05 convertible. Installation is simple and takes maybe a half hour. The wire you need to buy plugs into the cd changer wire that's in your trunk and extends it over to the wall between the trunk and back seat-that's where the reciever mounts. Just pull back the trim panel and stick the radio with double sided tape on top of the assist module, it will work fine. BTW-this mounting location issue is why they say it won't work in a convertible. You will not need a new back panel (trim kit) or install kit if you mount this way as your car already has them for the assist option. You just need the radio, antenna, and extension cable.

Buy them here as this is cheapest:

The other option is to move the assist module and then mount the sirius module where the assit module was:

I wouldn't bother with this method as it's more work and no real benefit that I could see.

Don't buy aftermarket XM or Sirius, the factory Sirius option is cleaner, integrates and works better, is easier to install, and will be cheaper in the long run because there is a big market for the used parts when you are done with them. It's also easy and clean to uninstall when your lease is up.

Once it is hooked up, hitting the mode button will add another section in the cycle. Good luck..Sirius Rocks! This is the best upgrade I made so far to my CIC.
