Subject: Killing my car?

The motor is one of the only things I haven't had to mess with in ten years. In my experience, if it breaks and I "fix" it, I'm usually refixing it forever (cluster, brakes, cooling system). I don't how to fix a motor, tranny, diff etc so I kind of baby them- not 90 year old Lincoln driving but not 16 year old Camaro driving either. Although I can replace them, hmmm, maybe I will actually drive this sucker.

My problem is, if I were to redline it, I can mentally see the crank dissintigrate, the valves float and pistons shoot out. Then, if I were to start to get some traction on the rear wheels, the forces involved there, well, forget about it. Parts scattered for miles around! Sick, I know.
