The Z4 can only have a Mk4

You cannot use a Mk3 ina Z4, the Mk3 cannot drive the CID display.

Check the SW version of the Mk4: go to settings and look at the top right of the screen.
The current version is 4-1/100, which displays as 4-1/00
If you have 4-1/91 or older, then an update is worthwhile, as a lot of Z4 bugs were fixed in the later versions

You need the high map disc for your car. You can use CD or DVD, most people prefer a DVD as it provides larger map coverage eg: all of Europe, or all of the continental USA.
