Subject: Try loading OS and also check the coding

Is the Mk3 coded for mono or colour?

Look at the sticker on the unit (if there is one): BMWM01S = mono, BMWC01S = colour. A good installer would have printed and fitted the sticker oto the nav when originally fitted to the original car.

Illumination of the eject button is an indication that the unit has power.
The red LED will light when reading the CD and when the OS is active and when booting up.

To determine if an OS is loaded and working do the following:
Ensure Mk3 is fitted and connected to car, with no CD inside
Leave boot (trunk) open, remove ignition key, close and lock rest of car
Wait at least 15 min for the car to go into deep sleep mode - as indicated by gear change indicator switching off. In deep sleep, the boot light will switch off, and the nav eject button illumination will switch off.
When the whole car is in sleep mode, press the Eject button.
If the nav has a OS fitted and working, the following will occur:

a. the nav Eject button illumination will switch on as the nav wakes up

b. the nav will send the "wake up" command down the databus

c. the car will respond to the wakeup command and switch on the boot light (because the boot is open)

With this simple method you can determine if the nav OS is functioning

If the nav OS is working and you still have a white screen, then the problem is that the nav is coded for Mono and not for a COlor screen.

To recode a Mk3 from M to C, it needs to be fitted into a car with the Mono nav (RadioNav), and then recoded using NavCoder
