Hi. I know this is a well discussed subject and i hope im not dubling another post. I have a 1996 E38 728 which came with tape player and non-dsp sound system. Also i have the low on board computer. I managed to get a widescreen display and MKIV from ebay. They should get here in about 2 weeks. Here are my few questions :
1. How can i test the display/computer when they arrive? I dont need to mount them on the car, i just need to powerup the display and test for pixels/etc.
2. Most of the retrofitting that is done on a car requiers "re-coding" from the BMW dealer. I dont know exactly what this means, but unfortunately the 3 large BMW parteners in my city arent really happy to do this to me. I have tried to speak to them but i cant get them to help me. How hard would recoding be in a DIY manner? Does it involve hooking up a pc with software to the OBC? I guess it shouldnt be that hard if one knows what he is doing.
So far these are my main concers.
I appreciate the feedback and accept flaming since im a bit of a noob when it comes to BMW audio/nav.

Thanks, Chris
