Subject: Repair comple. Broke a bolt

I finished my repair (2000 328i manual), but I broke this bolt

Needing my car, I put it together without the bolt. Besides this issue, the repair went fine and the cold start idle issue is gone (3 days of cold starts, no idle issue detected). I drove 250 miles on day 2 and the car ran great.

The obvious question is this: How bad off am I? Do I need to go back in and replace my entire VANOS?

Some notes on my experience:
1) make sure you and your torque wrench are good friends. Experiment somewhere safe that will not cause damage
2) I had a brittle hose right here.
It snapped when I started to move things around. This was an unexpected AutoZone trip.
3) I put the small parts removed at each instruction into a baggie that I labeled. This helped me make sure I had everything I needed when I went through each reassembly step.
4) The amount of oil that spills out of the VANOS less than a cup. I wish I had taped a bag around the base of the VANOS (I got most of it in my container, but 'most' is not 'all').
