Subject: Ground loop part 2, paging bghark/740isport

Strange sci-fi whistling from stereo is dropping down page 2 (I wish this board were better about popping stuff back up front) so let's revist here up front.

Found the info on dice site that 740isport pointed out. It all applies to various Japanese cars, and the part recommend has about 6 RCA jacks and a mini-stereo plug. Now, maybe this thing connects to the DSP adapter in some way, but what bghark described, a simple three wire device providing power isolation to the DICE sounds more like what I'm after.

bghark, if you can see that thing you installed easily enough, maybe you can take a look and see what it is? Shouldn't be hard to find on the net if it has a mfg name or part number or something. Just seems like simpler is better.

I'm optimistic it's a ground loop thing. It's happening again today, but my ipod always charges for awhile when I start driving. Later the noise stopped, presumably when the ipod was done charging. That'd certainly be consistent with the issue described in the dice writeup: battery charging causing noise that can be eliminated with a ground loop isolator.

Anyway, see if you can find out what's in your bar bghark, sir, please.

Thanks!
