Hey everyone!

I decided to try things over here for a while, I've been on bimmerforums for over a year now and need a little change, not to mention all those great articles on E38.org come from here!

Well, here's my story: I'm a senior in high school, and have owned my 1997 740iL since July of 2007. My dad has a Z3, my older sister also has a Z3, and my brother has a 540i, so we are kinda a "bimmer family" I guess (with the exception of my mom, who drives a huge chevy conversion van).

So in August of this year, my transmission decided to fail on my way home from work one day. I stopped on the way home to fill my tank, and when leaving the station, the engine would just rev when I stepped on the pedal and the car limped almost home.

Since then, the car has been sitting in the driveway, because I don't make much money and also because I am transplanting a 6 speed manual in there. I actually just received the trans, flywheel, clutch hydraulics, pressure plate and clutch disk, etc yesterday. I'm going to be ordering my driveshaft from Beyer in the next couple weeks, so I'm hoping to be done by mid-December.

So I thought I'd just introduce myself, especially since I'll probably be needing the help of you guys as I do this swap.
