I have experienced a very similar situation, but it was only in the driver's side rear door speaker. One day I heard a loud pop and crackling from that speaker. CD player was at a very modest volume at the time it happened.

Every couple weeks I get crackling from that rear speaker, but it is infrequent. Two or three simes there was a very faint static hiss coming from the rear door speaker even after the car and radio were turned off. I also get a faint "pop" when I push the dash button to turn on the sound system.

I am concerned that the dealer will start swapping out big $ items in search of the problem. I would appreciate it if you do find out the problem if you could post the end result.
