Remove the head unit and dismantle.

Look for dirt / dried coca cola etc around the keyboard buttons. Clean if required.

Look for stuck buttons. A stuck-down button will render other buttons inoperative. Remove button, clean and reassemble as required.

Check condition of plug and cable connecting keyboard to main board. Reseat / Repair if required.

If the above doesn't fix it, then it is an electronic fault on the main board. A replacement 2nd hand unit is the easiest. Alternatively, use the opportunity to upgrade to a widescreen, and sell the old headunit for spares - there are many people that want a working 4:3 LCD screen, as they typically fail at 10 years old.
