Subject: Re: That code is more likely for the radio. My 90 735i will not start either...

Is there a red LED lit next to the CODE buttod on the OBC?

I've done various fixes on my e34 this weekend and I also had disconnected the battery.

While I was replacing the microfilter with my head upside down beneath the dashboard and reaching blindly for my tools on the driver's seat I *might* have also pressed a button or two on the OBC, who knows? :-)

Anyway, after I reconnected the battery, a strange thing happened: the car wouldn't start. The starter worked perfectly, but the car just wouldn't start. Then I saw, that the red LEDs on the OBC next to the CODE and ZEIT buttons were lit, so I presumed that the immobilizer has kicked in.

Then I just disconnected the green connector on the backside of the OBC and the car started immediately. Also, when I reconnected the OBC the "empty" clock display showed (which, somehow, didn't happen the previous time).

But the proper way to do it by the manual would be:
-disconnect the battery (both + and - cables) - an alarm siren will sound
-wait 5 minutes
-reconnect the battery cables and turn the key to position 1 - there should be a 15 minute timer going to zero on the OBC
-after 15 minutes the car should start.
