i can confirm the engine sits in the engine bay with very little in the way of mods just the removal of a front mounted battery box(ex 525) it also requires the removal of the vacuam brake servo (replace with hydraulics like with the V8's
V12's sound cooler than the V8 and with very minor tweaking can produce a lot more power!!!!!! than the V8
who knows asc may still work if you use a wide grill e34 93 or later an old 540 would be perfekt a 530 would be ok but you most likely will be changing diff eventually as the m60b30 e34's only got a medium case diff but if you use an e32 750 as a donor the diff(3.15) shorter than the 540(2.93)is large case the brakes are the same as the 540 except for the rear discs they are larger but someone told me they dont fit( i think it is bullsh1t) i reckon they'll fit as an aside the e31 8 series brakes that everyone seems to prize for other bmw's look surprisingly like e38 7 series discs could go on forever and will if you want more info on the 550
