Evening Guys/girls.
I've got a really annoying problem with my '99 318 Ci. On tickover there is a really annoying whirring sound, and there doesn't seem to be any charge going to the battery. now I thought it would be the alternator that's dead so I've put another one on tonight and it's making the same noise. I've had the starter motor out last week, and it appears to be ok. The garage I took it to said it could be the starter solenoid that's engaging the spline on the ring gear, but it doesn't take into account the lack of charge to the battery? any ideas? it's driving me crazy!
