Subject: 750 front foot light installation, a small mod to see your feet

So my wife has been complaining about not being able to see her new shoes in my car, so I had to take things into my own hands. OK, I am just kidding. Anyway, I picked up a set of 750 pedal and clove box covers with foot lights and installed them this weekend. They really add a nice touch to the interior lighting. It’s a minor mod, but I think it adds nice lighting to the interior, nothing like seing your feet. The pictures below don’t really do it justice. Rear foot well lights are next. Thanks to Edwin’s great write up, it was a piece of cake. You can find everything you need to know in the following write up.

Here are some installation pictures. The 750 driver side pedal trim panel was not a perfect match. It seems that the 750 has the break pedal situated slightly different than the 740s. I found this out the hard way, almost broke my back trying to make it fit, only to find out, that there is a very slight difference. At first glance they looked the same.

Here are the 2 covers for comparison. Notice that the break pedal slots are slight off. Look at the center air slot and you will see what I am talking about. Had I looked closely, I could have avoided laying on my back trying to make it fit. Anyway, I ended up just moving the light from the 750 trim panel to my old panel.

These are the tools you will need

I started with the passenger side since it was a little more difficult. remove the glove box trim panel first. Panel Removal

Next remove the door plate. I used my trim removal kit to do so, notice the 3 seperate clips holding it in place.

Pull back the carpet and you will see a box. Not sure what it is, but it says LEAR LCM, so it might be some light module, who knows. Anyway, Pull back the insulation from the top to see the second screw. Unscrew the 2 bolts with a 8mm socket and lay it to the side.

These are the wires you want to get too. Cut the cable shielding very carefully to get to the wires.

I checked my door lights to make sure I had the right wire. The wires are Red/blue and brown for ground.

I used set a tap-ins you can get at any Radio shack to tap into the red/blue and ground wire. The brown ground wire was so thick I had to use some electrical tape to keep the tab-in closed.

A quick check before putting everything back to together, and then there was light.

The glove box cover from the 750 did not have the foam insulatnt underneath it, so I moved it from my piece to the new panel.

Now to the drivers side. Remove the cover and you will see the wires to your left. give a little pull on them and they will come out. Make sure to check the wires in the door again so you don't tap into the wrong ones.

Again it is the red/blue and brown wires

Using the tap-ins again connect to the 2 wires.

Before I connected the light, I had to move the light from the 750 panel to my exsisting one. Thansk to IBhenry's tool he gave me, I just cut out the hole for the light and popped it in.

Test the light and voila.

And here is the final result. I really like them. The small things in life. Pictures don't do them justice, but my camera just doesn't like the dark.
