Subject: We all better start learning to speak Chinese...

A friend of mine gave me a book to read called: "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man". It was written by John Perkins. He worked for the NSA as, you guessed it, an economic hit man.

It seems that after WW II, the USA realized that war was not a good option to build and empire (in our case, an economic one). They figured that doing it economically was the way to go. However, it couldn't be an agency of the US government so they started the NSA.

The "Reader's Digest version is, we would send in these multi national corporations (Haliburton) to build infrastructure in third world countries with money loaned by...The World Bank. In other words, get these poor bastards so deep in debt to us that we (USA) owned them, or at least controlled them.

So what's that got to do with my title?

I was watching a show on TV last night called, "China, from the inside out". I found a couple of things in the report rather startling. First, the Chinese have FOUR times as many people as we do and their economy is growing at a startling rate. If they continue to grow and consume at the rate they currently are, they said it would take another planet to feed the demand for food, water and raw materials.

But what REALLY caught my attention was, China is in 50 something countries in Africa building, guess what? infrastructure with money from THEIR banks. In other words, they are using our playbook.

THEN they said that China is financing OUR debt to the tune of $1 TRILLION dollars a year. The danger of that is, if the dollar happens to drop substantially, the Chinese could call the loans and demand payment in Euros or double the current debt. Then my American friends, we are screwed. We will owe an unpayable debt to a nation that requires more natural resources than the planet has to offer. Not good.
