I replaced my stock DSP amp with an alpine amp and i get no signal from my cd changer.

I did everything according to this:

same exact setup. only thing different is that i did not attach rca leads to the stereo preamp inputs. i connected straight to the alpine speaker level inputs from the preamp leads coming from the head-unit.

should i try connecting the headunit preamps to rca leads and hook up to the amp with those rca leads?

note: when i turn the volume up, all i hear is noise interference. when i spin the volume dial, i can hear the dial clicking when i spin it from the car speakers. the amp is on and sends power to the speakers but no music/signal comes through, just noise/interference. can anyone help please???
