> I might also go with adding video to my navigation screen. im guessing i need a video signal splitter which will give me 3 outputs, 2 for the headrest monitors and 1 for the navigation screen. so i need to now find a module that i can hook up a video feed to show on the nav screen correct? I think something called Navtool or somthing of that sort does this. So if that works i can see the dvd menus on my nav screen and i can control it from there.

A standard BMW TV tuner will do this for you. It has AV IN and AV OUT. And Reverse Cam in. And you could monitor other cameras if they work on analogue TV frequencies.

> i have one more question, if i use the protocol from soundgate that i linked in the previous post, will that give me volume, track select, and all that control from the headunit and the steering wheel, or do i have to use the dvd changer's remote control?

Volume is a amplifier function, the same volume control works for ALL audio sources.
Track and disc select, as well as the usual CD functions will work.
As soon as a function is not a standard CD function (like controlling a DVD menu) then you need to drive your DVD changer through some other system.

This is because your new DVD-changer + interface will be emulating a standard audio CD changer. The nav system is not DVD-aware, and has no ability to read and control DVD menus.
