Subject: Re: HVAC Questions

All my HVAC buttons can be pressed and and LED lits(when pushed one at a time).

I do not understand the vacuum pump testing. Any help would be thankful:

I think I have a vacuum leaks, only air coming out to windshield and footwell(when pressed) for rear passengers.

Vacuum Pump #64 11 13 69 19 5 was defective. Replaced
Water Valve #64 11 13 76 32 1 was leaking coolant. Replaced
Vacuum Storage Tank #64 11 13 61 87 1 tested. This Black 8 Balls has no leak.
Rubber Grommet #64 11 13 61 87 3 tested. No leak.
Temp Control Panel tested for LED on top-OK. Removed and replaced that thick white rubber string.
Temp Control Regulator tested the left dial's switch with DVM-OK. Removed and cleaned.
Air Flap Actuator tested with a vacuum pump-OK. Location is on passenger side, under wiper with one hose connected to it. I removed that hose and connects a hand vacuum pump hose into the Air Flap Actuator and was able to pump and hole pressure. At the same time I can see the passenger flap moves into closed position. Disconnecting the hose from the Air Flap Actuator will open or move the flap back into normal position.
Distribution Piece #64 11 13 63 06 1 tested good. A T fitting that's connected to the 8 Black Balls. Replaced from Advanced Auto
All hoses from engine bay to wipers for HVAC have been replaced.

How do I check the NON-RETURN VALUE #64 11 13 63 06 2( printed from E23 735i Vacuum Control, RealOEM.COM BMW E23 735i Vacuum Control ) that's connected to Intake Manifold on one end and the other end-to a hose to T fitting to a hose to a Vacuum Pump, that's on the top Driver's wheel?

This is what I have done so far to check for vacuum leaks:

Hose, that goes to the firewall, disconnected from Vacuum Pump. Clamped the hose on firewall and Hand Vacuum Pump connected at Vacuum Pump's hose. Pumped and was able to get good vacuum. Clamp removed. Hand Vacuum Pump moved to GREEN FEED-TRU(to black vacuum pump- drawing from Mr. Marc C. Leydecker, 1987 BMW 735i A/C Diagram, Sheet 2, REV.1.0)- I was able to hand pump the vacuum down to 3/4 of the dial scale. But here is the problem, when I keyed on, at the point that the seat belts alarm sound/lights display on control panel, the vacuum drops to zero in under 1 second.

Do I need to push on anything from the TEMP CONTROL BUTTONS, turn key on or have car vacuum pump connected?

Notes: I still using the hand vacuum pump for the above tests.
Mike posted on 10/29/03 at 19:43:22 said this car has 6 stepper
motors (Re: no air comming from front vents).
But Marc C. Leydecker 1987 BMW 735i A/C Diagram, Sheet 1,
Rev.1.0 shows 10 Flap Motors.
From Mr. Leydecker drawing on sheet 3, shows 4 Flap Servos
From BMW 64-1 shows 1, Vent Flap Servo
From windshield is 2.
From RealOEM.COM BMW E23 735i Automatic Air Condition show 5
Actuator Flaps. And from my observation, 2 flaps around the
windshield/firewall.

Stepper motor = Flap Servos = Actuator Flaps = Flap Motors?

I am lost when some say motors, servos and etc.-are they the same thing?

I removed the passenger Actuator Flap that has a hose out to view, but I did not see any motor on this guy.

Does this car have 7 hose flappers?
