Some of the small pics on the left do not show a pic but the red cross, but when clicking on them for enlargement, they can be seen. maybe you can correct that later, and if possible add the dimensions of the gasket, then this document is perfect!

I try to answer some questions, but leave open if I am not sure, probably some other people here know better and will add the answers, so that we have all documented.

QUESTION 1:
The two screw-ins with two holes - the bigger of the two tightens to a stop, but the small one I can continue tightening and compressing the spring - when do I know when to stop?

"I will try to find one in my parts box, maybe still available and will check it. Maybe someone has one in stock and checks it"

QUESTION 2:
Of the THREE little balls, there are THREE different sizes. I hope I put them back in right. According to the picture in link above, it goes from left to right the Biggest to the Smallest. Was that right?

"have not yet opened it"

QUESTION 3:
How do I know how to position the lever on the rod?

Here is the German text, use google translate for that:

1: Drehschieber
2: Hebel
3: Ruecklauf
4: Vorlauf
5: zum Verteiler
6: Druckablassschraube
7: Absteckbohrung

Basically: in the lever there is a hole, and in the unit is a small hole, if these 2 are in line and a pin or a bolt can be put thru both, then the regulating valve is at zero position.
In this link you can see the drawing (also on my website under LAD/Niveau in larger format) and here you can see a pic of an assembled valve which shows the lever too
http://www.7-forum.com/forum/24/komponenten-niveauregulierung-edc-deren-lage-84467.html
There I have collected all data I have about the LAD system.

QUESTION 4:
Should I be cleaning the rust off and re-painting the housing?

Housing is made of cast iron I believe, not absolutely necessary, but a fresh coat looks better, although no one will notice ;-)

QUESTION 5:
After reassembling Hex screw, how free-spinning should the lever-and-rod be? It seems to tighten up quite a bit.

"Maybe that is because of the new O-ring/gasket? I will check the old one too if I find it"

Thanks a lot for posting these pics!!!
