Actually I had a spare power steering pump from my parts car available, so I did that first as shown in the above link.
You better have a press or something available to get the shaft out, that is a 19 mm shaft. On each side you can see the 2 big plugs with the big +. I did not have the tool for this, so I made one out of a big bolt head as also shown in the link. Before I made a + out of 2 big washers which I cut off on one side to make a plus, then welded it, but the material was too soft. Inside is actually only one O-ring under the cover, the rest is a spring, a piston with tiny holes and a piston rod.
The other stuff is easy work, just replacing the O-rings and the 2 profiel rings and then pressing the shaft seal on, for which I used a fitting socket to push it in with the press.
Took me just 2 hours.

The harder part is to remove the old pump and to install the new pump. Took me 5 hours with 2 jack stands in front and a creeper.
Sucking the Pentosin out of the reservoir, fan cllutch removedm belts untighted and then the fun began, the main headache is the banjo bolt fot the power steering hose on top of the pump, only accessible from bottom. Used a crowfoot 19 mm, short extension and then step by step tightened it, 80 Nm. The other hoses are easier, but better have some spare banjo bolts and copper seals for the beanjo bolts, banjo bolts can often crack. I foudn some cracked ones in my parts car, of course that leaked.

BMW does not have these reman kits, you can either sent it to a shop which is specialized on power steering reman, or DIY, that beats the + 500 $ a reman pump costs from the dealer.
See on the E32 forum here, some more people are doing it now too.

Next weekend I wll repair my pump removed from the car, so I have a nice spare pump.

No more leaks now, and the best is the whining when parking has completely stopped!
