On the changing factory fitted stuff etc.

My 540 was made without cats from the factory......You may need an ECU update though. I was told by a BMW tech that the power is definitly up because of this.

As to it making a difference, well over here decatting an E39 540 is common and yields about 15Kw or more.

As for the green aspect, I would leave the cats in to avoid following the govenor in doing negative things for the environment.

This green argument relating to motor vehicles is so misunderstood by so many people. Cars are not in reality the problem, yes in major cities it causes smog and I agree to that being fixed, but in contributing to the CO2 problem worldwide they are not actually a big factor at all.

Do you know, the process of making all the cheeseburgers eaten in the US creates as much CO2 as all the SUV's in the USA combined.

This is a fact, it has been researched and documented, so if you stopped eating cheeseburgers, you could drive an SUV with half the impact on the environment. Quit cheeseburgers and SUV's and you are helping the environment.
