Subject: This flame styling thing is starting to look good to me...

A friend of the family has this really sweet little '07 M Roadster and he was heading off to a Bimmer event this past Sunday. We talked Saturday night and he asked if I could come over and work on his paint. I got there at a respectful 9 am on Sunday morning (argh!) and soon realized that he had to leave at noon. Yikes! Wires got crossed somewhere! Less than 3 hours to do the car. Good news was that my wife Ginny is a good sport and is my business partner. She also knows her way around a buffer. I like to tell guys that if a middle-aged girl can do it...well, you know the rest. ;-))

Anyway, the car looks pretty darned good as is pictured below. The owner had used Zaino All in One and was reasonably happy with his results. Here's the car after a good washing.

Not too bad to look at Huh? However, "there was some fine spider-webbing and very slight oxidation that took something away from the shine, even after the Zaino was applied" (Client's words, not mine)

This was pretty much the story over the horizontal surfaces. Driver's side hood below.

The angle of incidence of the sun over accentuated the scratches above a bit, but they were clearly visible, even when the zaino had been applied a week earlier. No reflection (yes, pun intended)on Zaino, but I'm not sure if bacon lard would've hidden these.

So with under 3 hours, Gin and established a test area and applied some mild aggressive polish, GlossHaus (GH) Foundation III(FIII),our fine polish, to see what result we got. That didn't please us, so I ratcheted up to GH Foundation II (FII) which is a medium aggressive compound and then applied FIII and glaze as a finish. This regimen worked well, so off we went over the entire car. BTW, here's a tip. Often times, especially on newer cars, the side panels are not as distressed as the horizontal surfaces. The means that you can ratchet your regimen down a notch on the side panels. Every case is different. However we were able to use GH FIII and Glaze on the side panels and the result was good. No blemishes showed through afterward. Smooth and silky.

The next two pics below are of the hood and trunk AFTER applying the FII & FIII. No glaze or wax had yet been applied. I include these to show that the surface was relatively blemish free.

The pics below are AFTER FII, FIII and GH Glaze. However, the car had NOT YET been waxed in these pics. Only GH Glaze had been used on the paint at this point.

After the above pics, the owner opted for our GH Perfect Polymer wax. No real change in the shine, since the shine came from his paint, not some wax. His wife and little girl liked the fact that our products have reduced Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and are environmentally friendlier. They asked if we could wax her new silver-grey 335i coupe. I handed her husband the random orbital and some of our GH Perfect Polymer Wax and in 15 minutes he had waxed her car too. He had never picked up a machine and was grinnig the whole time. The wife's car looked great! Sorry no pics, we were busy packing up. Off the event they went. they invited us to come along and we follow in our '69 polaris 2002. It was a California'esque day in Austin, TX. Dry and about 78 degrees. Man, I'm missing the SF Bay Area weather. :-((

Also, apologies for the clutter in the background of the pics. We were pressed for time and racing to get done. Picture etiquette was not uppermost in mind.

Thanks and enjoy!
