OK managed to get somewhere although it has cost a small fortune to get as far as I have.

The computer was effectively stuffed behind the main dash so this has now been replaced and we were able to hook this up to a BMW dealer computer and get the replacement DSP amp etc coded. This now means that CD, tape and Radio works but we still have no screen on the central console. Having said that, the selector knob works in that if you turn and select, the BMW diagnostic computer responds which would indicate that the TV Screen has had it. I have checked voltages coming out of the TV module in the boot (trunk) and we are getting the right voltages at the header unit, so cabling seems to be OK.

Question: Are these 4:3 screens all the same on the early versions? I have been offered a LHD version that is fully operational from a 2001 735i. The BMW dealer said that they thought it "highly likely" that it would work if the unit was a Philips (which it is), but I have no idea how to strip the dash out to do this.

HELP!
