I'm gearing up to replace my aged 32" Sony (I believe it's the heaviest 32" tv Sony ever produced--no kidding), and have been confused by all the advice I've gotten on lcd vs. plasma, and which models/brands/sizes/prices to look at.

I don't like the idea of their relatively short lifespan by comparison to the old technology tube TVs, but would like to free up the 'real estate' in my living room currently consumed by the behemoth Sony we have now.
