Guys -

Decided a bit ago that I was going to look into an E46 at some point. Problem was, I'm too picky and wanted to find one with exactly what I was looking for: a coupe, red, manual tranny, decent miles, in my price and distance range.

I came across this absolute gem last week. Unfortuenely, I secured pre-approved financing on Friday and immediately called the dealership, which was in the process of selling it =/ I love the rims and the clear corners on that one... it was obviosuly enthusiast owned.

Anyways, expanding my search to a 150 mile range, I came across the one I'd eventually end up
offering on: another 2004 E46 coupe in red. Pictures follow.

Some plusses and minuses to this one. It's from a BMW dealer, which menas the red carpet treatment and the assumption that it's been given a thorough going over. It doesn't have a CPO warranty due to the miles tho. I detest the rims, but that's easily fixed... I think a set of E46 M3 rims are in order. Clear corners will have to be done, of course =p Wish it has the bigger I6, but ah well. I love the black/sliver interor. It's basically flawless; the leather especially so. Some yayhoo who owned it did a butcher Xm radio install that I'll yank, but otherwise I'm happy.

You'll note that they wanted $20k. I checked Carfax, and they bought it in November. So, it's been sitting around languishing and depreciating for over 5 months. Bluebook had it pegged at $20,615. I offered $16500, which they balked at. The Sales Manager admitted that it'd been on the lot for 170+ days and he wanted it gone. He showed me "the list" where it claims they had $17,900 in it; he offered that break-even point and I accepted. Of course, they only really have ~$15k in it, but I'll call it a victory at taking them for their minimum acceptible offer.

Of course, this mans the E38 is going away =/ I wish I could afford to keep both. If anyone is interested in a very well cared for iL in the Cleveland/Akron area, let me know. I'll probably clean it up real nice and post pics in the For Sale forum.

Pick up the E46 next week!
