Rajaie, I am new ot the boards and am looking for info on my 01' 740iL with the same noise issues. My noise is a very deep sound (almost like a rod nock) as apposed to a ticking sound from lifters. The noise even goes away at times, and perodically shows up once I start the car and when it is warm at idle. Is it the Vanous system or is it something else? When you say replace the adjuster unit, do you refer the to the complete Vanous system or is the adjsuter a seperate part? or is the tensioner the issue? Sorry for the flood of questions, but I need as much info as possible so the mechanic does not take advantage of me.
