As Poolman noted, the current product is for the i6.
The v8 M62TU has a much different vanos configuration. The seals are metal and are mounted on the camshaft. Apparently at camshaft speed the seals score the vanos piston shaft.

I suspect your noise is from the hydraulic lifters. They can be initially noisy until they fill up with oil. This usually takes a couple seconds. In some cases one or more will stick and take longer to loosen up.
There is a possibility the vanos can cause this noise until it builds up oil pressure.

There have also been some cases of the crankshaft chain tensioner breaking. This will cause a rattling noise.
