Subject: Re: Looking at ETM for 83, 84 I can't see this 5-pin relay with 87b.

To be honest I'm not sure. I've got the 84 733i wire schematic in front of me (Pages 111, and 112), pin 87a or 87b is located in the middle of the relay...to further complicate this the same 5 pin relay listed on rock auto...is also listed as the main relay for the "Jetronic" (?), where as the 4 pin is a totally different Bosch part number.

Here is what the illustration on the Bosch relay (listed for Main and fuel) looks like (hope you can understand my weird punctuation drawing):

86 87 87 (a &b)
o--->|-- o---o
__|____
|__/__|==
o-------| o
85 30

Now from the picture one of the other guys sent me I have the 87 (a/b)relay on the fuel pump going to pin 85 on what I think is the purge valve relay? Does that sound totally pear shaped? Thanks for the help on this man.

PS Picked up a multimeter tonight...nice little digital unit...and forgot the key to the bmw at work errrr! Will check things tomorrow night.
