Re: Trans Failsafe Prog & Check engine

my e39 has 149k miles, auto, just tuned up. the check engine light comes on all the time. the eml light is also coming on after the engine is at operating temp. the idle is running from 1500k-5k when stopping at lights and any other time the car slows down. almost stalls out. is the eml only for 02 and related systems? any suggestions.
