Subject: Re: The car probably isn't worth a lot to anyone else, so I'd suggest

Again, thanks for all the tips, David! :)

The guy was asking $1500, but I only had $1200. His wife insisted he sell it anyway. I don't think he needed the money as bad as she wanted lower insurance rates. ;)

Was that a good price? Everything I'd looked at for $1200 was just trashed (some didn't even have titles!), and I only had 4 days to find a car. (I'd just moved back from WI and didn't bring my car, so my cash was limited, and I was moving 4 hours away from where I was temporarily staying and needed transportation.)

So I have no idea if that was a good price or not. None of the men that I knew lived in that area, so it was just a galpal and I looking at cars, and she doesn't know any more about cars than I do.

One of the car lot salesmen told me that he had one and if it ran good to get it. (It was private sale, not from a lot, but the guy was nice enough to give me some advice because he didn't have anything good in my limited price range.)

So, I have no idea. It does need muffler work (it rattles), and that shimmy thing fixed, and the BMW logo thing keeps popping off my gear shift (I need to glue it in), and the radio doesn't work well. I plan to get a CD player for it.

But there's no dents, and the interior has no rips or tears which I was really impressed by. It's very "clean" for an old car.

Wouldn't it cost a fortune to get a car to Kentucky from Washington?

I'd be scared to sell it to anyone that hadn't looked at it first, because I'm not a car person.

And still not sure if I would. It means trying to find something else, which I find really intimidating.

Although the mechanic here said he'd help me if I decided to sell it and get a newer car. (Which is what he suggests.) He thinks cars like this should belong to people that can do their own work so they don't nickle & dime you to death. (His words.)
