Subject: I did it over 5 days

But I had planned on a leisurely 4 days.

Day one - I left at 14:00 instead of 9the planned 9:00. Drove until about 23:00 instead of the planned 18:00.

Day two - left at 17:00 after a day of having the car at a mechanic :p Drove until nearly midnight, though there was a -1 hour timezone change, so it was actually 23:00

Day three - took the morning off to view Mt. Rushmore. Left Rapid City, SD around 13:30. Drove until 20:00. Decided to stay over where I stopped for dinner - needed the rest.

Day four - left around 11:00 and drove until around 20:00, but another -1 hour made it 19:00. Had dinner and stayed over in Spokane, WA.

Day five - left about 11:00. Got to destination about 17:30.

All of this includes roughly an hour break for lunch, and some other small breaks along the way of 10 to 30 mins each.

So basically I took it really easy. I had planned to do 500 miles a day, leave around 9am and stop around 6pm each day. That would have been 4 days, but due to leaving late on day 1 and the repair delay on day 2 it all got skewed to be a day longer. It also required pushing on later in the evening than I had wanted to, but it was ultimately fine.

Yes, it's 2000 miles and yes the weather was perfect. Not bit of snow or ice on the roads anywhere and it was above freezing for pretty much all of the daylight hours. The only dampness on the roads that I encountered was on the mountain passes in Montana, Idaho and Washington, where melt-water from the MASSIVE snow-banks on the sides of the road would trickle across the road a bit.

It was a great trip and I got to see some really interesting landscapes :)
