With help from folks here and a bunch of trouble-shooting, I was finally convinced that there was an incompatability between the 4:3 board monitor and the new generation radio, so I broke down and ordered a wide screen monitor from Martin. The problem with the Select button is now resolved, so I think that confirms the problem was as suspected. For anyone considering upgrading their radio with the old 4:3 monitor, almost everything will work, but your select button will be ignored, and that's a problem for controlling how you scan through radio stations and mp3 disk directories.
