No software coding is required when I asked Dinan a while back (I already have their Stage 4/5 tranny software but that was due to my other Dinan upgrades) and Jim did not mention a need either. You have a 97 E39 so you may have more vendor to choose from, however, I honestly prefer Jim over anyone else. He is just an all around great guy that doesn't adverstise and quietly goes about his business. Another DFW7 member has a 3.64 for his 750iL from Jim and love every minute of it for 5+ years so far. I haven't enough time to check the speedo but has not notice any significant difference so far. RPM for is running slightly 200 more at 80 MPH. You can say that I am a happy customer :-)
