Did you remove the tip from the spark plugs? I forgot to do that on the first set of plugs I changed on the M30, took me a couple minutes to figure out why the wires wouldn't seat on the plugs. Anyway, they need to look like the plug on the left in this picture . They don't make a 'click' sound when you install the wires, more of a 'zzzp' sound as the wire slides down the threads of the plug.
