Listen, I know you're head is spinning right now from all this speculative advice. I know what you're going through because I have recently had the same problem. I found a solution but still don't know the "technical" problem. I do know however, that the problem is definitely in the DVD Nav unit. All I did was hold down the "eject" button. If the disk pops out, re-insert it while still holding the eject button. It should work, it did for me. To make it work for day to day practical use I just wedged a toothpick in the side of the button. After a couple months of doing this as needed I noticed that it was needed less and less, and worked on it's own more and more. Now I never have to use the toothpick, it seems to have "magically" fixed itself with a little encouragement. I know it sounds crazy, but give it a try. Sometimes "low-tech" solutions can do wonders.
