Spark Plug guide for BMW's

A BMW dealer installed the W8LCR's in my car at time of an Inspection II, a few years back. Eventually my car started to smell REAL bad (sulfur), than started running poorly (bad gas mileage), very inefficient. When it got cold out (below 35-40 degrees), the car stopped working altogether. I failed the local emission tests and the BMW dealer had put their hands up in the air over it. Said I probably needed a new brain-box for the car.

When I finally got around to removing the plugs (I mean, why would I check those, they were just replaced?!), I noticed the W8's. I tested them. 3 of the six flat-lined, open resistance. I replaced all 6 with the stock W9's, the bitch started right up and hasn't coughed since. I've boycotted the dealer ever since, but the damage was done. I've heard of many dealers doing this in my rummaging online, and don't know if it was just a bad batch of plugs, but I agree with the masses herein and will stick with stock; although Vern makes a compelling argument as well.
