In point of fact, Russians, who live under a democracy, technically are entitled to the same personal freedoms as you and me. Whether they get them or not depends on how corrupt their politicians are and how wealthy they are, of course. But the days of neighbors informing on neighbors, gulags, and "disappearances" died with the Soviet regime.

Your point, I think, is that we Americans should appreciate our freedoms. Agreed. But we needn't assume that our way of life is better than all others while doing so.

The most important thing, of course, is that BMWs are terrific cars!
