Subject: Re: Stubborn Select button with BM53 radio in E39 M5

If your radio is working fine (except for the select button) there is no reason why the radio should be broken.

Right now I would guess that your (old) board monitor is not sending the good button messages for the (new) radio -> you need a new(er) board monitor. If possible you should test this with a 16:9 board monitor.

You can use the following messages with NavCoder to check the function of your radio:
select button pressed: F0 05 FF 47 00 0F CS
select button released: F0 05 FF 47 00 8F CS

Can you offer the following information:
- picture of the front of your board monitor + part number and version information (see navi service menu)
- country coding of your radio (check in service menu)
- your country

Background information:
Of course the radio is receiving the select/info buttons but the behaviour of these buttons changed in the (new) board monitor and thus changed in the 'new generation' radio.

For compatibility reasons the navigation is translating the new select/info button messages to old functions. Because of this the navigation has to know about the type of radio, in your case 'new generation'. (This setting just means that the navigation is NOT translating the messages because the new radio should know how to deal with these buttons directly.)

It looks like your radio doesn't understand the old select button :-(
