LCM's are for more than lighting and can not be switched between vehicles - at least not without verifying that it is a compatible part number, then uploading the correct version of SW for your vehicle and also "coding" it to your "specific" vehicle. It must have the correct VIN number.

I suppose it is possible that the lamp testing function has failed - but that is the first time I have heard of that.

You could ask to have the fault codes checked and a diagnostic run on the LCM at the next service.

Otherwise I think I would let it be - it is not that difficult to revert to a manual check of the lamps. The only downside is that you will not be alerted to lamps that are starting to degrade.
