Subject: Etrust? Never heard of them as an internet security provider...

I have heard of them as a provider for security certificates, but not as an internet security provider. The difference is like comparing a bicycle to an automobile. E-Trust might do just fine as a provider of security certificates and that's ok (a web site's certificate either matches or it doesn't -- a no-brainer comparison).

I would recommend going with a name brand security provider like Symantec, ZoneAlarm, Grisoft's AVG, or as I said before, even McAfee is better than nothing (there might be some who swear by McAfee, but every comparison test I have made with a McAfee security program reveals security flaws that it misses that other programs manage to catch). My personal preference is Zonealarm Internet Security Pro. Symantec's Norton is a resource hog and it uses a flawed activation system where if you lose the 25-digit activation key, you can't reinstall the software. With ZoneAlarm, if you register on the website and you lose the key, you can retrieve you key from their website an unlimited number of times as long as you keep the subscription active. At $40, it's a steal of a bargain for it's effectiveness

Lavasoft's Ad-Aware is a great FREE spyware detector/eliminator and so is Kolla Security's Spybot Search & Destroy. But the most powerful pay program for spyware is Webroot's Spysweeper.
