need the 219 cable. In that case the old blue plug goes to the nav and the new blue plug is not used. Also the old white plug is not used. On the 840 the burgundy goes to nav, the small 10 pin black and the large 6 pin natural color go to the old harness, the small 6 pin black is for phone and normally not used, and the large 6 pin black goes to the plug on the tail light housing X1310. You need to partially read the 46 page installation instructions for doing a cold MKIII nav/widescreen install in the car. The 840 cable is the B cable in those instructions. They are posted somewhere here, probably on e38.org. If you are getting a new TV module (the MKI VM won't work) you will need the 219 cable and Brian or I can tell you what to do if needed.
