Subject: E46 is near identical to E39

Speed pulse on the radio is the black wire with white stripe

The Mk1 and Mk2 used front left and front right wheels for dead reckoning, and for determining if the vehicle is turning

The Mk3 and Mk4 have a built in gyro compass, and so only needs 1 x wheel speed pulse, which is the front left (but can just as easily be the front right, or can just as easily be the TAA speed pulse signal on the radio)

For maximum accuracy use the front left wheel pulse signal from the ABS unit.
But then you need to run a wire to the front of the car.

The BMW retrofit kit uses the TAA speedo pulse signal (black/white wire) on the E46, and this wire is actually on the radio plug, which becomes very convienient for you if you are retrofitting the nav.

For the reverse light wire, you'll find it in the wiring loom on the right hand rear wheel arch, lift the seat squab to see it

Jochen
