Subject: Old TV tuner

Hi otagomed,

Your TV tuner is an old one - or has old firmware fitted to it - only way to fix this is to replace the TV tuner with a newer unit.
I don't know how to upgrade the firmware on these units.

Probably to do also with the fact that your car is a ex-Japan E46, some of the earlier TV tuners for Japan were a bit different to the European TV tuners.

Buy a newer TV tuner from ebay Germany, and sell your TV tuner to someone with an early (pre 09/98) ex-Japan E39 or E38 that wants their navigation upgraded to work.

The Mk1 systems (Euro, and Japan) need a later model Mk2 or newer TV tuner for the car to work with the Mk2, Mk3 or Mk4 nav unit.

PS: hows your nav running?

Jochen (in Amsterdam)
