I chose not to have the camera switched on and off with the reverse lights. I figure that the image will stabilize faster. Plus, I would not power the camera from the reverse light anyway. You can get switched power from a purple wire with a red stripe in the area by the tail light.

Can you test with a different video source to see if the wake up thing is only with your camera or common to other cameras.
