Subject: I do not know an easy way to describe the hookup...

I could do this practically blindfolded, but I can not think of a way that I could reasonably describe it. All of the plugs are keyed, so it is virtually imposibble to hook anything up incorrectly. So, if you just started connecting things and fill every socket with a plug, you would probably get it right. You may end up with a few extra plugs, but that is probably not a problem.

The "Bitte Weiten" will probably go away when you reconnect the navigation computer.

The black module in front of the CD changer is probably the 2nd telephone control unit. The silver box to the left of the CD changer is the TV module (that is removed in my picture, but you can see the white and blue plugs that normally connect to the TV module.)

If I were you, I would try to get a copy of the BMW TIS disk. That has the removal and replace instructions for every component on the car. That would help guide the re-installation.

Or, if you could find a local BMW E38 enthusiast, someone else might be able to jump start the project or at least check your work.
