Subject: 325TDS no power

My '97 325TDS started with a problem that no one can solve (so far).
The car will be running fine without any issues and the next moment all power will be gone. It will keep on running and you can drive it, but you'll battle to rev it fast 4000RPM and it will take forever to get there (almost like the turbo is dead, but it runs fine at times). The problem started about 4 months ago, but steadily got worse, up to a point where it is doing it every time. The diesel experts service my car checked everything they could think of – no messages on the OBD, turbo boost is fine, diesel pump was tested and given the green light, confirmed that injectors are okay, but they couldn't figure out what is wrong. All they could tell me after 2 weeks is that the car is performing poorly. Strange thing is that I’ll leave it for a week, then it runs fine for a day or maybe even 2 and then all of a sudden it will come back.

Any suggestions what could cause this? Could the fuel pump be a culprit? Any ideas will help
Thanks
