I am having this problem also (on my 2006 BMW-5 series). Before I scrub my phone list for alpha characters, I have ~1700 contacts in my Pearl (and 3x the phone numbers (1 each for office, home, cell, etc..

I had this working on the 8700 with the "Hotlist only" synch feature. However Brian pointed out earlier that for some strange reason, RIM eliminated this feature (????).

Anyway when I previously did the synch of the full address book with the 8700, it got up to about 1000 entries before it stopped, but it did keep them all on the BMW. I am wondering if that is the magic limit on the BMW address book size?

Off course the downside with the Hot list was that it was limited to ~30 entries (may still be) but it was better than nothing.

So my question is:

1. Will the BMW only hold >1000 phone numbers?
2. Will it hold each of the numbers from a particular contact?
