Is it correct that the M62TU engine is a fit for:

1998-2003 540i
1998-2001 740IL
1998-2003 X5

and no other models or year. I am trying to figure out what is the best way to find the lowest mileage engine for an 01 740IL where I'd need the least mods.

Car's been down for quite a while and I refuse to deal with some of these yards who will not allow you to ask question or run a carfax on their vehicle.

I've been told plenty of times that an engine only has X number of miles to run a carfax just to find out that last reported mileage anywhere from 40-80% more than the yard claimed. Its a frustrating event looking for a reasonably priced good used engine.

Is that too much to ask.......And maybe throw in a few SI swimsuit models.
