Subject: As did I!

But did that dissuade me from buying one?

I emailed the guy a while back about how he could have so much trouble. I pointed out what you mentioned, that his story didn't seem so much as car trouble as mechanic incompetancy and not fixing the real problem in the first place.

I wasn't trying to change his feelings on the E32, although in retrospect, I can understand how he thought I was. I've had a so-called Master Tech tell me to my ear (I was on the phone...lame joke) that he didn't want to touch my 750...and I wasn't even gonna bring it in to him. He went so far to tell me that he'd charge me for having it sit in the parking lot because they weren't going to do anything to it. I just wanted some information is all. I told him he didn't have to be rude about it and I also said with incompentancy like your's, I'd never dream of letting you touch any of my BMW's. So I started questioning him desively and it became apparent that the only reason why he became Master Tech in the first place was simply by senority...he'd been working there the longest out of all the other guys. He had no idea about intake systems, fuel management systems, (as these were of the things I questioned him about) etc. Aside from the basics, like the amount of air can affect how your car runs. A bad O2 would cause a "mixture too rich" error and terrible performance...seemingly little of which he knew about. The reason he gave me to a "mixture too rich" error was cracked intake gasket causing false air...what...where did that come from? Well, it may be possible, I don't know, but in my experience, I highly doubt that...it wouldn't be the first place I'd look.

Anyways, these cars are a piece of work from retired NASA engineers. Of course it's going to take a hell of a lot more than the 95% of BMW techs to fix them. PATIENCE is first of all and a membership to Bimmerboard to get answers from people who actually know what they are doing!
